NEXT BOOK FOR DISCUSSION
I’d like to discuss this book starting at our first Thursday meeting on January 12. I have not read this book, but I am familiar with the author. He is a homeschool dad with a talent for looking at homeschooling situations in a humorous way. I think the levity will be good to get us through the cold, winter months. If you would like me to order you a copy, please let me know by Dec. 20. (You can pay me the $10 when I give you the book.)
SPEECH CLASS OFFERED
I am interested in offering a speech class to your students 12 and older as they prepare for our Presentation Days. I was a speech coach for multiple years in our homeschool speech and debate club. I also taught a semester Speech class at the Learning Link. When I watched the students present at our October Presentation Day, I saw a lot of talent and ability that I would like to refine and develop.
My plan for this class would include weekly check-ins via email and/or Zoom as well as “check points” along the way in the development of their presentation for January 27. For those of you who do not have students I am currently tutoring in math, it is important that you know something about my tutoring: I am very strict on assignments being completed on time. If you are not willing to hold your student to a schedule, then this probably isn’t a good fit for you. Here is the schedule of assignments: Schedule for Jan. 27 Presentation Day
If you are interested in one or more of your students (12 and older) participating in this speech class, they must have the first assignment to me no later than Friday, December 16. The cost for this 6-week course is $10 for one student, $15 for two, and $20 for three or more. Please let me know if you have students that you want to have participate, and I will send them the information on submitting their first assignment.
